Water Heater - Repair / Replace

It’s easy to take our hot water for granted. When a water heater stops working we realize how much of our daily routines, hygiene, health, and comfort are affected. Fortunately, hot water heaters can provide years of reliable service, primarily if they are being maintained regularly.

When your hot water heater stops working or is not as effective as it was when it was newer,  then you should call IAQ Medics to come to your Northern Virginia home to replace or repair your broken water heater.

Typical Signs That You Should Call Us to Look at Your Water Heater

  • No Hot Water: Depending on the heating energy source, the issue could be related to the delivery of that energy. For example, if you have a gas-fueled water heater, you might have an issue with the pilot light. Electrically powered water heaters might have an issue with the electrical system.
Also, thermostats can stop working correctly.
  • Not Enough Hot Water: Hot water heater tanks can experience sediment buildup at the bottom, reducing water capacity. Your thermostat might be set too low or malfunctioning. Possibly, your demand for hot water has increased, requiring a larger tank to accommodate your family’s changing needs.
  • Strange Noises Coming From Your Tank: Popping or screeching sounds should not be part of a water heater’s typical operation. This is an obvious sign that you need to call us for service.
  • Water Pooling or Leaking around your water heater. Discolored or Rusty Water: This indicates potential corrosion inside the tank and needs to be resolved.

How Do Water Heaters Work?

If you have a tank water heater (as opposed to a tankless water heater), it fills up with cold water. The heating element is located at the bottom of the tank. When this element heats the cold water supply, it rises to the top of the tank. This hot water is then distributed when you turn on a hot water tap or run your dishwasher. More cold water comes into the tank to replace the used hot water, which keeps you in hot water for various uses.
