How Our HVAC Technicians Maintain Your Boiler

Visually inspect the entire boiler system to identify potential problems. We look for leaks and other signs of issues since we last visited you. This will help us determine which items to address first in our process of tuning up your boiler system. If we see any leaks, we’ll get them fixed for you. We’ll let you know before we do any additional work what we’re doing, why, and how much it will cost to fix.

Inspect Burner Components:

Pilot Light: Check the assembly for signs of problems. Make sure the light is burning consistently. Clean it if dirt or objects are clogging the flow.

Burners: Check to make sure there are no cracks or damage and the burner holes are clear. Clean any residue.

Flame Spreader: A metal plate about the burner can sometimes get dirty.

Thermocouple: It is visually inspected to ensure it is positioned correctly and working to turn off fuel if the flame is interrupted.

Check Water Pressure: Make sure that the right amount of water pressure is feeding the water through the boiler and into your home. Checking gauges and adjusting pressure helps make sure that your hot water is getting everywhere it needs to consistently throughout your home.

Check Gas Pressure: For gas-fueled boilers, a pressure gauge indicates gas pressure levels. Technicians often use a manometer to check the pressure against manufacturer recommendations and adjust it if necessary.

Check the Oil Boiler: For oil boilers, we check oil filters and lines for cleanliness and bleed any trapped air that can make noise or interrupt the flow.

Final Boiler Heating Checks: We run a cycle of heating water and check for any signs of leaks, noises, or issues. We make sure that ignition is seamless and that the heat is evenly distributed in your home. Gauges are rechecked, and the thermostat is checked to ensure proper communication with the boiler.
